How We Play!

General Game Play Description.

EVERYONE PLAYS!

Games are played Saturday morning and early afternoon(depending on registration).   All registered players will receive a shirt and hat for the season.

Game Play.

All groups will use Tee Ball/Coach Pitch rules with the exception of the PROS and Hall of Fame divisions, no score or outs recorded.  Players will learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding in a fun, safe and encouraging environment.  Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the needs of the players.  Optional “Soft Toss/Coach Pitch” to batters who have the ability to do so. Not all players will be able to hit “Soft Toss”.  No more than four (4) pitches may be thrown to the batter before a tee must be used. “Soft Toss/Coach Pitch” is to be used to enhance players development over the course of the season.

If there are not enough players to field two (2) separate teams of 8-10 players each, the manager(s) will begin the game with a 15 minute skills building practice. After which a simulated game between all participating players will begin.

During the simulated game, players will play a “Round Robin” style game in-which players will rotate through the infield positions. The “Round Robin” game will not exceed two (2) at bats per player or 45 minutes. Players who can wear a helmet should be encouraged to do so.

All players bat from a tee or “Soft Toss/Coach Pitch” each inning and advance one base at a time, with the exception of the PROS and Hall of Fame Division.  Managers will bat the entire roster each inning. The last batter of each inning gets to run all the bases (bases clearing, inning ending Grand Slam). It is recommended that managers should rotate the last batter each inning so all players have a chance throughout the year to “hit the Grand Slam.”

NOTE: for the last batter, players on the field on defense must remain on the field until the final base runner crosses home plate.

The baseball used is a “Flexi” style baseball or a limited flight training ball.

Games should not exceed one (1) hour or 3 inning games. No score is kept and no outs are recorded.

All players are to remain in the dugout and on the bench waiting their turn to bat. There is NO on deck circle.

All players play in the field (rotate players throughout positions). No players are to be in front of pitching rubber or at the catcher’s position.

Cones may be placed on the field to guide the players to a position. No cones will be placed in front of the pitcher’s mound.

Cones can be placed on the edge of the infield/outfield grass for older players

Practice will be optional.

WE'RE HERE TO PLAY!

Our primary goal is for our players to have FUN!  We currently offer a non-competitive baseball program. Our special needs players participate on teams where they develop the fundamentals of fielding, throwing, hitting and base running.  They do this while learning valuable life skills such as communication, taking direction, sharing and team work.

We also introduce the technical and tactical aspects of the game of baseball to our Majors, PROS and Hall of Fame divisions.  These skills include foot work around the bases, proper grip and arm path when throwing and how to hold the bat to develop an effective swing.
